Is your "little one" suddenly not so little anymore? It might be time to consider upgrading their bedroom to keep up with their growing interests. The good news? Taking their bedroom from a cute toddler oasis into a playful big kids' retreat is a lot simpler than you may think.
Content creator and mum, Raffaela Jenkins (@raffaela.sofia) shares her top tips to easily transform your kids' space and keep it cohesive, even if they share a room like her boys, Ollie (8) and Remi (4). These upgrades are fast and simple to achieve, and best of all, it gets your kids involved in the styling of their own room.

Start with simple swaps
A new bed cover is the fastest way to change a room. Whether they’re obsessed with certain prints, have a new favourite colour, or want something themed, bedding is the ultimate easy-swap solution you need to be across. Give them the independence to choose for themselves and head into [Retailer Name] to check out their range of bed linen together.
Tie everything together with fresh cushions in matching colours from Target or add pillows in the shapes of their current interests or hobbies.
Storage that grows with them
As kids get older, their stuff seems to multiply. The trick to keeping everything organised is to find storage solutions that work for their room and that they’ll actually use. This can be anything from upgrading their open toy bins to using under bed storage tubs from Target for more floor space. Or if your kids have bunk beds like Raffaella’s do, adding shelving to the top bunk for bedtime books and drink bottles is the perfect hack.
Styling with their favourite things
Of course, the magic of a bedroom makeover always comes down to the finishing touches. The decorating stage is the perfect time to let your child's personality shine through in their space especially, if like Raffaella’s boys, your kids are sharing a room.
Look for styling details that have function but also lean into your child’s current interests like a new hobby or a game that they enjoy. For Ollie, this meant adding a stand for the guitar he’s learning to play.
You can keep the room fun and age-appropriate by adding in plushies from Target of their favourite animals. Raffaella went with a dog for Remi and a new sloth friend for Ollie.
A room refresh doesn’t have to mean a big spend or starting from scratch. A few thoughtful updates can transform a space into one that reflects your little one's growing interests. Take your kids with you on your next trip to Castle Plaza and let them pick out their favourite things, so that you can feel confident knowing their new room will be a place they love.
