We chatted to local legends, Lisa & Evan from Executive Flowers. Lisa is a florist, and therefore a bit of an expert on gifts for that special someone! Read on to find out more about Lisa & Evan.

Working in a flower shop has always seemed like a particularly joyful job to those on the outside. And Lisa & Evan confirmed, it’s true! She also told us about a particularly special moment.

“Every day is special in a flower shop. Once, I spotted a lady sitting in the mall, and we decided to give her a bunch of flowers. It turned out it was her birthday and she had no one to celebrate with. The flowers really made her day - and ours.”

Lisa & Evan has seen their fair share of interesting orders, from those who aren’t for people, to those who are sent out of humour rather than love! “One day we delivered flowers to a home and the recipient was called Mr. Puggles – it was the pug’s birthday! We also send a lot of Port Power arrangements with tissues attached to Crows supporters.”

When we asked if there was a particular event for which flowers are a necessity, Lisa & Evan told us of one place that can always benefit from a bunch. “Events should always have flowers, but most importantly, all homes should have flowers. In our crazy world at the moment, it pays to have a bunch in your home to make you smile.” Natives are her go-to if she’s gifting flowers to a friend – they’re beautiful and look great dried too!

It seems that there are a lot of special things about working as a florist. So, we had to ask Lisa & Evan to narrow it down to what they love most! “The people. Our customers really care and love giving fresh flowers to celebrate or for those in need.”

With there being particular flowers for every occasion and emotion, we challenged Lisa & Evan to describe the Castle Plaza community using a flower! “Castle Plaza is like a bouquet filled with different, beautiful flowers everywhere you look. No one flower could describe the wonderful people in our centre.”
